About The Film:
Winner
of the Sembane Ousmane Award at the Zanzibar Film Festival, “Into the
Light” follows the story of Tanzanian sociologist Mama Lyimo (Lee-mo) on
a 40 day journey across her country to discover why AIDS continues to
thrive. When she befriends an illuminating AIDS orphan named Suzy,
Lyimo’s personal journey becomes more urgent and intimate than she could
have ever imagined.

Do
Good Lab Co-Founder Kathrin Jansen will be hosting a conversation with
the film’s Director Peter Glenn immediately following the screening.
All net proceeds from the event will go to support Do Good Lab and Akili Dada, a Kenyan organization that empowers women to become the next generation of African leaders.
The filmmakers will be giving a free copy of “Into the Light” to every person who attends.
Tickets are $10 through Eventbrite, $15 at the door. Please arrive on time. Screening will begin promptly at 6:45pm.
